Andy Reid’s son Garrett found dead at Eagles camp
Tragic news this morning out of Eagles camp as Garrett Reid, the oldest son of head coach Andy Reid, was found dead in his room Sunday morning.
According to police, Garrett was found dead upon arrival and no suspicious activity was found.
Reid, who has struggled with substance abuse issues in the past, was assisting the Eagles’ strength and conditioning coaches at camp.
I’m crushed for Andy and Tammy Reid. I spoke with Andy about Garrett on Friday. He was so happy to have him at Lehigh. So sad.

The Eagles held practice as scheduled on Sunday but Coach Reid was not present. In a brief and tearful statement, Eagles GM Howie Roseman said that Reid told the team to carry on without him.
“Coach has spent the morning informing his family. We ask sincerely that you respect the family’s privacy during this time. The team has been informed of this news, as has Jeffrey [Lurie] and Christina. From a football perspective, I can tell you Andy has asked that we go forward with training camp.
On a personal note, we’ve been with Andy for a long time. He’s always been strong for us, we’re going to be strong for him right now. As a father and a friend, we’re all hurting.”
The Inquirer’s Zach Berman has the rest of Banner’s statement.
Marty Monhinweg and Juan Castillo will oversee the team in Reid’s absence. It is unknown how long Andy will be away from the team.
It’s a tragic morning for the Reid family and the Eagles family as a whole. We extend our deepest sympathies and condolences to the Reids as they deal with this tragic loss.
