Flyers announce Andrej Meszaros out 6-8 months with torn Achilles
When it rains, it pours. News out of the Flyers camp this morning is that defenseman Andrej Meszaros will be out indefinitely after undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon.
Flyers GM Paul Holmgren announced that Meszaros injured his Achilles while training in Slovakia.
The typical rehab time for a torn Achilles is between six to eight months, so this officially puts Andrej’s season in doubt. Mezaros missed the last six weeks of last season and most of the playoffs following a back injury.
The loss of Mezaros is frustrating for a team with a rapidly-weakening corps of d-men.
Meszaros is the third Philly athlete to injure his Achilles tendon in past year (Phillies’ Howard in 2011, Eagles’ Jason Peters in March).
